Using script for something other than games
« on: November 24, 2011, 06:13:32 AM »
I thought I would check with you guys first...

Was wondering if someone wanted to use this script for something other than games would you be ok with that so long as the powered by etc stayed on the site???

I have an idea for one of my other sites and this script does enough for what I want  ;D

I don't see anything wrong with that.
As long as you keep the powered by link intact you're good to go.
You can always purchase the the removal of the powered by link if you'd like.

its another one of my sites I put together years ago
http://cocktailz.atspace.com/

I'm sure I can modify the script enough to work around the current layout/features.

Ah, I like. I did up a bunch of the code needed to do a jokes site with it. Looks like you would want something similar to that. Let us know when you get it going, I'd love to see it.

One thing I would like to add is,

Soul's you're a guts for punishment - :)

Would not a GPL "Recipe" type script be more suitable to be modified?

Or actually modify the script that you are currently using so that it comes up a little better with presentation?

FAS still has some way to go in the way it handles text in the Db - Like add and strip slashes along with the need for special characters that you will no doubt run into.

But? - - - - - - As they say - "Where there's a will there's a way!" Only problem is - where are you going to get some support for something that is no longer FAS or anything else? :P

Lol, we don't have a problem with trying to help him code something other than what it was meant for. What we have a problem with is a time crunch around here :p

You can get a lot of help over at http://phpfreaks.com in their forum, anything web development or server related.
I will be opening up a forum on alphawebpro.com soon, but trying to finish a search bot for my search engine first.
