Index.php spitting out raw code with errors
« on: January 20, 2012, 02:38:08 PM »
Hi, Ive been tackling this problem for a few days, since I could not find a solution on my own, ive decided to post on these forums.
I have successfully installed FAS, but when I go to the index.php it shows raw code and spits out the error message :
Undefined index: action in C:\Apache2\htdocs\Game\index.php on line 9 Warning: include(templates//base_home.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\Apache2\htdocs\Game\index.php on line 183 Warning: include(): Failed opening 'templates//base_home.php' for inclusion (include_path='.;C:\php\pear') in C:\Apache2\htdocs\Game\index.php on line 183 Warning: include(templates//template.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\Apache2\htdocs\Game\index.php on line 190 Warning: include(): Failed opening 'templates//template.php' for inclusion (include_path='.;C:\php\pear') in C:\Apache2\htdocs\Game\index.php on line 190

This is being hosted on a virtual server, so php and apache have been manually configured by me.
I am running PHP 5.3.9 and apache 2.2.21 from apachelounge. It is running on a Windows 2008 R2 server.

Can I have a link?

I think I know why its showing the raw code.. do you have the php mod installed on apache? If so you need to include this... inside your httpd.conf file
Code: [Select]
#something like the following needs to be inside your apache httpd.conf file
LoadModule php5_module        modules/libphp5.so
Code: [Select]
<FilesMatch \.php$>
SetHandler application/x-httpd-php
</FilesMatch>

As for those other errors.. that is because the var $template is not set.. the only reason I can think of as to why its not set is because either you didn't install the db structure correctly or your mysql database isn't installed properly.

Did you install the mysql mod for PHP?

EDIT: I also would recommend using a Linux VPS rather than a Windows. If they have Ubuntu that would be the best distro to go with, or Debian.

Thanks for replying. I did a test to see if its a problem with my php by installing phpbb3, and that works without displaying raw code. if you would like to see the problem, you can get onto my website using zowlyfon.co.cc for now (Domain name is waiting on order). I also looked at my httpd.conf and my php.ini and it seems that the mysql mods are already installed by default.
The reason why I am using windows is because it is required by other software I run on my VPS.
Here is my httpd.conf
Code: [Select]
#
# This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file.  It contains the
# configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
# See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2> for detailed information.
# In particular, see
# <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/directives.html>
# for a discussion of each configuration directive.
#
# Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
# what they do.  They're here only as hints or reminders.  If you are unsure
# consult the online docs. You have been warned.
#
# Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
# of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
# server will use that explicit path.  If the filenames do *not* begin
# with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo.log"
# with ServerRoot set to "c:/Apache2" will be interpreted by the
# server as "c:/Apache2/logs/foo.log".
#
# NOTE: Where filenames are specified, you must use forward slashes
# instead of backslashes (e.g., "c:/apache" instead of "c:\apache").
# If a drive letter is omitted, the drive on which httpd.exe is located
# will be used by default.  It is recommended that you always supply
# an explicit drive letter in absolute paths to avoid confusion.

#
# ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
# configuration, error, and log files are kept.
#
# Do not add a slash at the end of the directory path.  If you point
# ServerRoot at a non-local disk, be sure to point the LockFile directive
# at a local disk.  If you wish to share the same ServerRoot for multiple
# httpd daemons, you will need to change at least LockFile and PidFile.
#
ServerRoot "c:/Apache2"

#
# Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
# ports, instead of the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
# directive.
#
# Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to
# prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses.
#
#Listen 12.34.56.78:80
Listen 80

[PHP]

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; About php.ini   ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; PHP's initialization file, generally called php.ini, is responsible for
; configuring many of the aspects of PHP's behavior.

; PHP attempts to find and load this configuration from a number of locations.
; The following is a summary of its search order:
; 1. SAPI module specific location.
; 2. The PHPRC environment variable. (As of PHP 5.2.0)
; 3. A number of predefined registry keys on Windows (As of PHP 5.2.0)
; 4. Current working directory (except CLI)
; 5. The web server's directory (for SAPI modules), or directory of PHP
; (otherwise in Windows)
; 6. The directory from the --with-config-file-path compile time option, or the
; Windows directory (C:\windows or C:\winnt)
; See the PHP docs for more specific information.
; http://php.net/configuration.file

; The syntax of the file is extremely simple.  Whitespace and Lines
; beginning with a semicolon are silently ignored (as you probably guessed).
; Section headers (e.g. [Foo]) are also silently ignored, even though
; they might mean something in the future.

; Directives following the section heading [PATH=/www/mysite] only
; apply to PHP files in the /www/mysite directory.  Directives
; following the section heading [HOST=www.example.com] only apply to
; PHP files served from www.example.com.  Directives set in these
; special sections cannot be overridden by user-defined INI files or
; at runtime. Currently, [PATH=] and [HOST=] sections only work under
; CGI/FastCGI.
; http://php.net/ini.sections

; Directives are specified using the following syntax:
; directive = value
; Directive names are *case sensitive* - foo=bar is different from FOO=bar.
; Directives are variables used to configure PHP or PHP extensions.
; There is no name validation.  If PHP can't find an expected
; directive because it is not set or is mistyped, a default value will be used.

; The value can be a string, a number, a PHP constant (e.g. E_ALL or M_PI), one
; of the INI constants (On, Off, True, False, Yes, No and None) or an expression
; (e.g. E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE), a quoted string ("bar"), or a reference to a
; previously set variable or directive (e.g. ${foo})

; Expressions in the INI file are limited to bitwise operators and parentheses:
; |  bitwise OR
; ^  bitwise XOR
; &  bitwise AND
; ~  bitwise NOT
; !  boolean NOT

; Boolean flags can be turned on using the values 1, On, True or Yes.
; They can be turned off using the values 0, Off, False or No.

; An empty string can be denoted by simply not writing anything after the equal
; sign, or by using the None keyword:

;  foo =         ; sets foo to an empty string
;  foo = None    ; sets foo to an empty string
;  foo = "None"  ; sets foo to the string 'None'

; If you use constants in your value, and these constants belong to a
; dynamically loaded extension (either a PHP extension or a Zend extension),
; you may only use these constants *after* the line that loads the extension.

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; About this file ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; PHP comes packaged with two INI files. One that is recommended to be used
; in production environments and one that is recommended to be used in
; development environments.

; php.ini-production contains settings which hold security, performance and
; best practices at its core. But please be aware, these settings may break
; compatibility with older or less security conscience applications. We
; recommending using the production ini in production and testing environments.

; php.ini-development is very similar to its production variant, except it's
; much more verbose when it comes to errors. We recommending using the
; development version only in development environments as errors shown to
; application users can inadvertently leak otherwise secure information.

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; Quick Reference ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; The following are all the settings which are different in either the production
; or development versions of the INIs with respect to PHP's default behavior.
; Please see the actual settings later in the document for more details as to why
; we recommend these changes in PHP's behavior.

; Output buffering is a mechanism for controlling how much output data
; (excluding headers and cookies) PHP should keep internally before pushing that
; data to the client. If your application's output exceeds this setting, PHP
; will send that data in chunks of roughly the size you specify.
; Turning on this setting and managing its maximum buffer size can yield some
; interesting side-effects depending on your application and web server.
; You may be able to send headers and cookies after you've already sent output

; This directive informs PHP of which errors, warnings and notices you would like
; it to take action for. The recommended way of setting values for this
; directive is through the use of the error level constants and bitwise
; operators. The error level constants are below here for convenience as well as
; some common settings and their meanings.
; By default, PHP is set to take action on all errors, notices and warnings EXCEPT
; those related to E_NOTICE and E_STRICT, which together cover best practices and
; recommended coding standards in PHP. For performance reasons, this is the
; recommend error reporting setting. Your production server shouldn't be wasting
; resources complaining about best practices and coding standards. That's what
; development servers and development settings are for.
; Note: The php.ini-development file has this setting as E_ALL | E_STRICT. This
; means it pretty much reports everything which is exactly what you want during
; development and early testing.
;
; Error Level Constants:
; E_ALL             - All errors and warnings (includes E_STRICT as of PHP 6.0.0)
; E_ERROR           - fatal run-time errors
; E_RECOVERABLE_ERROR  - almost fatal run-time errors
; E_WARNING         - run-time warnings (non-fatal errors)
; E_PARSE           - compile-time parse errors
; E_NOTICE          - run-time notices (these are warnings which often result
;                     from a bug in your code, but it's possible that it was
;                     intentional (e.g., using an uninitialized variable and
;                     relying on the fact it's automatically initialized to an
;                     empty string)
; E_STRICT          - run-time notices, enable to have PHP suggest changes
;                     to your code which will ensure the best interoperability
;                     and forward compatibility of your code
; E_CORE_ERROR      - fatal errors that occur during PHP's initial startup
; E_CORE_WARNING    - warnings (non-fatal errors) that occur during PHP's
;                     initial startup
; E_COMPILE_ERROR   - fatal compile-time errors
; E_COMPILE_WARNING - compile-time warnings (non-fatal errors)
; E_USER_ERROR      - user-generated error message
; E_USER_WARNING    - user-generated warning message
; E_USER_NOTICE     - user-generated notice message
; E_DEPRECATED      - warn about code that will not work in future versions
;                     of PHP
; E_USER_DEPRECATED - user-generated deprecation warnings
;
; Common Values:
;   E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE  (Show all errors, except for notices and coding standards warnings.)

huh it looks like a problem with php short tags. Try changing <? to <?php inside the template.php file
If that fixes some of it then let me know.

As for the css and images not displaying.. you need to set your domain correctly inside your dd_settings mysql table.
example: http://mysite.com (no slash at the end, and include the http://)

lol honestly I have seen tons of errors with FAS when error reporting is on and displays all errors and warnings. I or someone needs to fix them, but for now after fixing most of the errors you can just turn error reporting off inside your index.php file.

I think you need to figure out why its not setting the template variable. The error its spitting out

Undefined index: action in C:\Apache2\htdocs\Game\index.php on line 9 Warning: include(templates//base_home.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory

says its looking for a file templates//base_home.php. There should be a directory name between those //. Why its not there I do not know, but it seems to me that there should also be a directory structure before it as well. Might wanna look at how your directory is defined in the settings, and whether you named the template folder.

Ive noticed somthing on my DB, the dd_settings table had no data, so I filled it in with the best of my knowlage, also the links are going to zowlyfon.co.cc/game/zowlyfon.co.cc/game/login :S Ill see if I can find anything about that, looks like a modrewrite problem / htaccess.

did you make sure to use this: http://zowlyfon.co.cc/Game as the domain (inside dd_settings - the column 'domain') ?

That will fix the issue

Thanks, now my page is starting to look like an arcade :) http://www.zowlyfon.co.cc/Game/
But the template is still not loading properly, but from reading around other support posts I think I may have found a problem, I dont think my .htaccess is working properly, as it is still saying 404 not found.

Code: [Select]
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^([^/]*)\/$ /game/index.php?action=$1 [L]
RewriteRule ^showprofile/([^/]*)\.html$ /game/index.php?action=showprofile&profile=$1 [L]

RewriteRule ^showcomments/([^/]*)/([^/]*)/([^/]*)\.html$ /game/index.php?action=showcomments&name=$1&ID=$2&page=$3 [L]
RewriteRule ^mostplayed/page([^/]*)\.html$ /game/index.php?action=newest&page=$2 [L]
RewriteRule ^browse/([^-]*)-([^-]*)/page([^-]*)\.html$ /game/index.php?action=browse&ID=$1&name=$2&page=$3 [L]
RewriteRule ^play/([^/]*)-([^/]*)\.html$ /game/index.php?action=play&ID=$1&name=$2 [L]
RewriteRule ^pages/([^/]*)-([^/]*)\.html$ /game/index.php?action=page&entryid=$1&name=$2 [L]
RewriteRule ^pages\/$ /game/index.php?action=pages [L]

EDIT: And I did enable mod_rewrite

use the default .httaccess that is given inside the zip
no need to add /game

EDIT: Also your css file isn't loading.. the url displayed in the html out put is: /templates/default/styles.css
Do you have $domain/templates/default/styles.css inside your template.php file?
If not, add that.

Code: [Select]
PLEASE NOTE BEFORE INSSTALLING: This script is not set up to run from a subdirectory. It
works best from the root directory of the domain, or subdomain. It can be run from a
subdirectory, but you will need to edit to .htaccess file acordingly. You will need
to add the directory path the the begining of the target URL on every line in the
.htaccess file, or it will not work. Some have reported it to work by simply removing
the "/" from the begining of each target URL, but this may not work for everybody. If
you need help with this, ask for it in the support forums.

It doesnt work without /game aswell.

I made a edit to my last post, read that.

Well you require www. for some reason.. try disabling that.

EDIT: or try removing the /game and just leave index.php?....
or change it to game/index.php?....
